All certified trees should have a tag with the registration number of the nursery at the time of sale. If a tag is not present, you can ask to see a copy of the retailer’s agreement. Trees under the agreement will have a tag indicating so (figure 1). To help prevent the spread of citrus pests around Alabama and other citrus-producing states, homeowners should only purchase citrus trees that are under a citrus compliance agreement with the state of Alabama.
